Doug Aaberg has land surveying and civil engineering experience spanning over four decades and has worked on a multitude of detailed commercial, municipal and residential projects. As Director of Land Survey at Merrill, Doug brings strong leadership skills to see Merrill through the “big picture” direction of evolving in the survey industry while ensuring our survey division’s product delivery is flawless by utilizing advanced technology to achieve our client’s goals in the most efficient manner. He can assist our clients through his specialties in boundary line determination, commercial and residential subdivisions, land court surveys, topographic and detail surveys, bathymetric surveys, ALTA/NSPS Land Title surveys, GPS surveys, and construction layout services. He is a Registered Professional Land Surveyor in Massachusetts and a Licensed Land Surveyor in Colorado.

Ray joined Merrill in February 2023 as a Survey Technician. He graduated from Stonehill College in 2016 with a Bachelor’s Degree in History. Before joining Merrill, Ray worked as a researcher and genealogist for several libraries, museums and historical societies. From this experience, he brings a strong background in property and deed research. He regularly conducts field work on a variety of projects including boundary surveys, construction layout, and existing condition plans.

Dana Altobello brings extensive experience in the planning, design, and permitting of residential and commercial projects in eastern Massachusetts, including multi-unit and active adult communities.  He has worked on a variety of projects, including stormwater management, on-site septic design, environmental permitting and Mass. DEP compliance. Additional areas of expertise include coastal dock permitting, zoning studies and land planning.  Dana holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Roger Williams University and is a Registered Professional Engineer in Massachusetts and a Mass. DEP Soils Evaluator.

John joined the Merrill team in 2020 as a land surveyor and crew chief. He brings broad industry knowledge to Merrill and experience in a variety of projects, including residential, commercial, and marine surveys, as well as residential septic system designs and installation. His duties at Merrill include topographic field survey, construction layout, boundary survey, and AutoCad plan preparation.

Jason Bascom joined the Merrill survey team in November of 2018.  Being a fourth-generation surveyor with extensive experience in both the field and office, Jason has been involved with many types of projects, using all types of equipment.  He has done utility surveys, roadway surveys, boundary surveys, hydrographic surveys, dam deformation surveys, aerial surveys, laser scanning, and erosion monitoring.  In addition to survey work at Merrill, he also obtains easements and land rights for utility installation throughout Massachusetts.  Jason holds a degree in Civil Engineering Technology from Wentworth Institute of Technology, is a Certified Engineer in Training (E.I.T.), is 10-Hour OSHA Certified for Construction Safety, and holds a Remote Pilot Certificate issued by the FAA (Part 107) for commercial drone operations.

With extensive experience in Professional Land Surveying, Deana is responsible for the management of our Land Surveying division.  Holding a BS in Civil Engineering from the University of MA, Dartmouth, Deana is a Registered Professional Land Surveyor, a certified Engineer in Training (E.I.T.), and a Massachusetts Soil Evaluator.  Her capabilities reach beyond her Land Surveying duties, as she often provides engineering design support for a variety of projects.

Rich Cheverie joined Merrill in 2007 with a background in architecture, carpentry, land surveying, and construction. He works closely with Merrill’s engineering design team on residential and commercial projects, performing daily field surveys, construction layout, and AutoCAD plan preparation work. Rich holds a degree in Architectural Design from Massasoit Community College.

Irene joined the Merrill team in 2022 after many years of administration experience largely within the construction trade fields and municipal planning and zoning. She brings to Merrill strong organizational skills and attention to detail as well as an understanding of the land use and development industry.

Christie joined the Merrill Team in 2015 as an Administrative Assistant and worked her way up to become the Controller for Merrill where she manages all aspects of business operations, client relations, human resources, and accounting. She works closely with the President to ensure daily operations are running smoothly. When she is not in the office you can find her exercising her two German Shepherds, Rocco and Kaiser.

Simply put, Karolyn is the straw that stirs the drink.  Providing administrative support since 2005, Karolyn is vital to the success of daily business operations. Along with our talented accounting professionals, she helps to keep vendors and clients managed seamlessly on all sides.  Karolyn is a master of many tasks at the front desk as she provides critical support to both staff and clients. Karolyn’s talents cover a broad scope, from human resource matters to maintaining balance sheets, and everything in between.

Karolyn and her family are no strangers to Gillette Stadium and Fenway Park as rabid fans of the beloved hometown teams.

Rob joined the Merrill team in 2021 as a Land Surveyor with more than ten years of surveying experience.  With Merrill, Rob specializes in research, field work, property line calculations, and plan preparation. He has a Land Surveying certificate from Wentworth Institute of Technology, a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of New Haven, and is certified with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a Professional Land Surveyor.

Kyle joined Merrill as a design engineer in 2021. Kyle assists the engineering division with a variety of projects, including permitting, plan preparation, residential and commercial site design, and stormwater management. Additionally, he assists the Marine division with various design and permitting projects. Prior to joining Merrill, Kyle had experience in solar design and permitting, as well as residential site design and surveying.  Kyle holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with an environmental concentration from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, and is a registered Engineer in Training in Massachusetts.

Heather Joined the Merrill Team in March of 2021. She brings to Merrill broad operational skills and capabilities from her long career in healthcare leadership. Heather excels in fast-paced environments and in managing complex situations and people. Her background in leadership as well as her administrative skills are ideally suited for the rapid, ever growing construction, engineering and surveying fields.

Deborah Keller joined the Merrill Team in 2016 with extensive experience in the design, management and permitting of residential and commercial projects throughout Massachusetts.  Deb has worked on all aspects of a project, including due diligence and feasibility studies, site design, grading, stormwater management and drainage analysis, state and local permitting, and construction administration services.  Deb holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering Technology from Wentworth Institute of Technology and is a Registered Professional Engineer in Massachusetts.

Brad joined the Merrill Team in 2014 with a diverse background in both land surveying and civil engineering design. As an experienced land surveyor, Brad contributes to all project survey components including initial site reconnaissance, field survey, drafting and construction layout services.  He has extensive experience in the surveying of property lines, topographic surveys, Land Court surveys and ALTA/NSPS surveys. In addition to holding a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Northeastern University, Brad is a certified MA Soils Evaluator, holds a certification from OSHA’s 40 hour HAZWOPER Course, is a Registered Engineer in Training (E.I.T.) and is a Registered Professional Land Surveyor in Massachusetts.

Paul joined Merrill in 2021. During his time with Merrill, Paul has assisted the Engineering Division with permitting, plan preparation, storm water analysis, and residential site and septic design. Paul holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in Troy, New York.

Xander Oram joined the Norwell office of Merrill in 2022. While at the company, Xander has assisted the Engineering Division with stormwater design, plan preparation, local permitting, and submittal preparation for project deliverables. Xander holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of New Hampshire in Durham, New Hampshire.

Tom Pozerski joined Merrill in 2007 after serving 31 years as a Field Grade  Military Engineering Officer Serving on Active and Reserve Duty. During his service he was assigned to the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers (ACOE)-Military Division for 28 years. He was an enlisted soldier for three years and performed his officer training while stationed at Fort Bragg, N.C, subsequently being promoted as an Officer. Throughout his career he completed four command tours of duty to include combat operations in Southwest Asia. He retired as a Lieutenant Colonel.

As our Marine Service’s Director, he has extensive experience in Marine Engineering, design and permitting with local, state and federal agencies. He possesses a strong background in in site assessments, hydrological analysis, sewer and utility design, local, state and federal permitting, and construction and  administration.

Tom is a Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in Massachusetts, a registered Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Advanced Professional  (LEED-AP), is an EPA-National Pollution Discharge Eliminations System (NPDES) Certified Stormwater Inspector, A Massachusetts Marine Trades Association Member, is a certified MassDEP Septic Inspector and Soils Evaluator. Tom leads the engineering team in Merrill’s Plymouth offices and is instrumental to the continued growth and development of the location. Tom holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Northeastern University.

Caroline took the path less-traveled as she ventured east to west, and then back east to resume her career as a Civil Engineer following a stint with the US Bureau of Reclamation in Colorado’s division of Dam Safety. Caroline performs research, analysis and design tasks for a variety of local permitting assignments, as well as providing support on project deliverables for both pre and post construction.

You may recognize Caroline if you have participated in any of her local fitness classes, where she serves as an instructor in her off hours.

Jim literally gets into the weeds of every job in order to deliver the most comprehensive and detailed mapping products to our clients. As an expert survey technician and instrument operator, Jim has spent his career honing his craft. Jim’s approach to every job regardless of size or scale is the same: leave no shot untaken and double check every back sight.

When he’s not traipsing through the thicket of the South Shore’s front and back lands, you can find Jim supporting his talented family on the field or on stage as their most avid fan.

Chris Sanderson is a key leader at the Plymouth office of Merrill. He excels at all aspects of project management from advising potential clients in the proposal phase through overseeing the design and permitting of the construction. Utility Division on natural gas related projects.

Prior to joining Merrill, Chris worked on wind turbine projects in the Northeast involving wind resource assessments and environmental impact studies. Additional civil engineering design experience includes traffic impact assessments, residential subdivision design, septic design, and stormwater management. Chris holds a degree in Civil Engineering Technology from Wentworth Institute of Technology, as well as certifications from OSHA for Construction Safety and Health.

Timothy Santos brings extensive experience in the planning, design, management, and permitting of residential and commercial projects in southeastern Massachusetts, specifically the Cape Cod area. He has worked on all aspects of projects and has experience in site design, on-site septic design, groundwater discharge permitting, environmental permitting, and construction plans. Additional areas of expertise include coastal permitting, land planning, innovative alternative sewage disposal system designs and construction project management of wastewater treatment systems.

Tim holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and is a Registered Professional Engineer in Massachusetts, Massachusetts DEP Soils Evaluator, Title 5 System Inspector, and Wastewater Operator.

Liam attended the University of New Hampshire where he studied civil engineering and mathematics. Liam began his surveying career in 2018 for an engineering company out of Scituate, MA. In the spring of 2022, Liam joined the Merrill team as a field surveyor. Liam conducts a variety of field work for both commercial and residential projects. This includes topographic and boundary surveys, construction layout and existing conditions plans using advanced data collection systems. Liam’s professionalism with clients, as well as, engineers brings consistency from the office into the field ensuring the project’s integrity.

Brendan made his bones in the business both above and below grade, as a resident construction engineer and certified bridge inspector with the Massachusetts Highway Department’s Engineering Division and Dive Team. Throughout his career, Brendan has maintained his steady approach by finding creative solutions to complex problems, with a balance of wisdom, wit and humor. As both a licensed Engineer and Land Surveyor, Brendan brings a wealth of knowledge to a myriad of assignments on a variety of levels.

Brendan has served on the Norwell Planning Board and has maintained an active role in town. When not working or volunteering, you can find Brendan following the currents of the North River or meandering the trails of the White Mountains.

Dan joined Merrill in 2018 and brings extensive survey experience in land surveys, construction layout, and CAD drafting. Dan has a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maine.

Jeanmarie Voelger serves as Merrill’s Finance Officer. Prior to joining Merrill, Jeanmarie ran her own bookkeeping and accounting business, working with clients across varied industries, primarily small businesses. Managing day-to-day transactions and the adaptability required of a small business helped develop her accounting expertise and communication skills. Along with Merrill’s talented accounting staff, she maintains the daily workflow for the finance department. Jeanmarie’s talents cover a broad scope, from budgets and financial statements to customer service, invoicing and billing, while building relationships with her coworkers, clients and vendors remains her priority.

Jeanmarie, a South Shore native, lives in Scituate with her husband and two kids, Mackenzie and Otto. In her free time, she loves to garden, cook and search for treasures at antique shops. She has also volunteered with the Scituate Beautification Commission.
