Merrill Engineers and Land Surveyors is seeking motivated applicants for a rewarding career in the Civil Engineering and Land Surveying industry. The chosen applicant will learn and perform municipal, state and federal permitting tasks under the supervision of Merrill’s Permit Manager.  Qualified applicants possess competency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams and PDF editing software.  Other attributes Merrill is looking for include excellent writing skills, attention to detail and regimented organization skills.  Training by Merrill’s Permit Manager and professional staff will be provided. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to the Permit Manager, Engineering Department, and Survey Department. The chosen applicant will be supervised by Merrill’s Permit Manager and become an essential team member for all our permitting tasks.
  • Prepare and assemble required documents/plans, fee worksheets, abutters list requests, hearing schedules, submittal deadline calendars, post submittal reports and other necessary documents required for permitting.  
  • Word processing/typing assistance to support the above duties.
  • Act as a liaison with town departments, working under the supervision of the Permit Manager.
  • Coordinate with Merrill’s Permit Manager and Project Managers on submittal deadlines, required documents/plans and hearing timeframes. 
  • Provide project updates to Merrill’s client and project team regarding the status of the project including timeframe for survey site work, submittal to town, hearing dates, and the permitting process timelines. 
  • Compile and email/mail/deliver submittals to local, state and federal regulators as well as copies to the client and project team.   
  • Become familiar with applicable regulations, codes and bylaws in support of our client’s Projects. 
  • Maintain and update Merrill’s project tracking document up to date project deadlines/status.
